Teachings From Women Shaping Buddhism in the West

Honoring Buddhist Women's Voices

Begins: May 15th

In this time of treachery, denial, dismissal, and silencing, women's voices are vital for the well-being of ourselves, each other, and our ailing world. Voices that inherently come from the in-dwelling nature of the feminine - the one who comes from the heart, lives from the heart, and decisively acts out of the clear wise heart - are found in wisdom traditions across millenia. Whether through female, male, nonbinary or gender fluid identities, everyone belongs, everyone has a feminine voice, and every voice matters.

Join us as we take a deep dive into the poignant, instructive, and necessary book, Buddha's Daughters: Teachings From Women Who Are Shaping Buddhism In The West, edited by Andrea Miller. Based on teachings from different Buddhist traditions and perspectives, many well known beloved teachers offer their own experiences and interpretations of these classic stories.

Buddha’s Daughters: Teachings from Women Who Are Shaping Buddhism in the West

Over the course of seven weeks, we'll look at a variety of stories with the guiding questions:

  • Why does this story matter now?
  • What would you ask the Buddha about this story?
  • Are there examples in your own life that makes this story more or less relatable?

Each session includes meditation, a dharma talk, and group discussion. Reading the book as we go along is recommended, though not required. Everyone is welcome, both new and seasoned meditators.
