    Generosity for Teachers

It is an essential truth that by caring and showing up for oneself, one is by extension caring for others. And by caring and showing up for others, one directly shares in the benefits of this caring. We are not alone and cannot survive alone.

Dāna (pronounced “daa-nuh”) is the Pāli word for giving. Dāna is the foundation of Buddhist practice, along with many wisdom traditions, based in the understanding that giving opens the heart, creates connection to others, and teaches letting go. Dating back to the Buddha, the dāna system is an ancient form of gift economy based on open-handedness and trust in community.

Pacific Mindfulness exists on this basic premise and we depend on and are deeply grateful for your support.

Generosity brings happiness at every stage of expression. We experience joy in forming the intention to be generous. We experience joy in the actual act of giving something. And we experience joy in remembering the fact that we have given. - Sylvia Boorstein
