Over the course of 7-weeks, we’ll take a deep dive into the world of the heart - exploring how cultivating essential and expansive qualities of heart deepens our capacity to skillfully care for ourselves, each other, and our communities. With mindful awareness as the foundation, we’ll draw on the Buddha’s teachings of the Paramis, the Perfections of the Heart, which includes generosity, morality, renunciation, wisdom, energy, patience, truthfulness, determination, lovingkindness, and equanimity. It’s a big list and a beautiful exploration.
Each two-hour session will include meditation, a topic-specific talk, and group discussion. This course is designed for those with some meditation background.

Come enjoy a daylong introductory exploration of mindfulness, lovingkindness and compassion. With endless cultural references to mindfulness, we’ll unpack what this really means from both Buddhist and secular perspectives, and how it applies to our everyday lives.
The beauty and accessibility of mindfulness practice is that it does not require us to be a this or a that, or believe in anything in order to belong. Rather, cultivating mindful awareness helps us manage our lives just as they are right now exactly as we are in this moment.
Our day will include meditation, yoga, group interaction and the practice of mindful eating with a beautiful vegan lunch offered by Kelly O’Roke of Om Shala.
